I really want to be able to paint the amazing things I see when I go diving or snorkeling. So I’m working on learning to paint with watercolor.
This is one of my first attempts where I ended up painting with watercolor like it’s oil. Watercolor doesn’t tolerate layering like oil does and adding texture requires really different techniques. I’m having a hard time getting the hang of it but I think it’ll be worth it!
Here are a few other attempts to paint water. Much looser and softer, but not as defined as I’d like. I was really trying to use layering and pigment transparency to create the feeling of looking into the depths of water. Not what happened, but I’ll get there!
And here are a few more attempts at the soft, loose style of painting that’s almost more of a suggestion of the subject.
